Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  Here are this week's highlights:

*We will be starting a new month-long author study for the always fun and whimsical Eric Carle.  This week we will read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "The Mixed-Up Chameleon" and do some really fun related activities.

*We will also begin a month-long science and social studies unit for Johnny Appleseed that will include learning about seeds and how they grow.

*We will have NO sight words this week due to losing a day of school for Labor Day.  We will instead review the words we have already learned.  We will, however, still have a short homework pack.

*This week's letters are: Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss.  Our number of the week is 4.  Please review letters and sight words daily with your children.  Some children received a chart with letters and their sounds.  If your child received this chart, he/she needs some extra practice at home.

*Please know that we will be monitoring Hurricane Irma.  Any changes to her path that might affect the school will result in information coming directly from Mrs. Tanner.

I hope you all enjoy the remainder of your 3 day weekend.  I look forward to another fun-filled week in kindergarten!  :)

God's blessings!

Mrs. Tracy :)
