Greetings K Families! Here are this week's updates:
*Our party is this afternoon at 1:15. Thank you for all the goodies you sent in and a special thanks to our fabulous room moms and volunteers for coming out and helping today!
*Friday is First Friday Fun Day. Dress-down costs $3.00. You may bring money in or pay in car line. If you choose not to dress down, wear a regular uniform.
*Thank you to all who came out for Trunk-or-Treat! Looks like our class had a great turn-out!
*If your child has tested into a yellow reader book, you may keep your child's red reader book at home.
*Fall festival info went home last week in your child's folder. This event is on November 17th. We need classroom volunteers to run our classroom booth that day. I will have our room moms do a sign-up genius for this. We also need treats, candy, stickers, small toys, or baked goods donated.
This week in academics:
We will read about hibernating animals and learn about their habitats. We will compare and contrast a story of a hibernating bear to a non-fiction book on hibernating bears. In phonics, we will work on new special sounds for oi, oy, ow, ou, and igh. In math, we will work with repeating and growing patterns and adding and subtracting one from a number. In Bible, we will learn about the Israelites journey through the desert to the Promised Land. We will also review the 10 Commandments. In Science, we will learn about why animals hibernate in the winter. We will have a written test in phonics for blends we have learned in class, as well as some cvc words. Your child need only to practice his/her reader books at home to prepare for this test. Our sight words this week are: from, but, brown.
Thanks and have a blessed week!
