Hello Kindergarten Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful 5 day break! The kids did some journaling today on their adventures, and it sounds like some of you did some really fun stuff! Here are this week's announcements:

*A new calendar went home today. It is FULL, so please refer to it daily. I wrote our show-n-tell days on the bottom due to lack of space. This week is something for fall. It can be anything that represents the fall season.

*Friday is our PINK day! Here are the rules for Friday's Pink Day: Your child may wear his/her Grace pink t-shirt and anything else pink they wish to wear for no additional $$. If your child did not purchase the pink t-shirt, he/she may dress in any pink attire for a donation of $5.00, which goes towards our breast cancer campaign. The remainder Fridays of the month, your child may wear the pink t-shirt ONLY, along with uniform bottoms. Wearing pink is optional this Friday. If you do not wish for your child to participate, they need to wear a uniform. I really hope to see ALL my children dressed in pink for this incredibly worthy cause.

*We have a phonics test on Wednesday. Please have your child practice his/her blends that went home in past homework packs.

*I will be posting a Sign-Up Genius form this week for everyone to sign up for a time slot for upcoming parent conferences (October 19th).

Academics:

This week, our sight words are: big, black, blue. We will be working with the letters /T/ and /C/. We have started learning special sounds (vowel-consonant and consonant sounds). We are also learning how to sound out 3 letter cvc words (i.e., cat, hat, bat). I will send home a chart with the "special sounds" later this week for your child to practice. We are learning about plot and sequencing of events in a fiction story in reading. We are also learning about non-fiction books as we read about fruit bats this week. In math, we are learning about patterns and map skills. In Bible, we are reading about Jacob and Esau as we learn about how God has a plan for our lives.

Have a wonderful and blessed week everyone!
