Dear Kindergarten Families,

I am out sick again today but should be back tomorrow.  Here are this week's announcements:

*There will be no sight word list this week.  Our curriculum has review words for the week, which works out great since I am not there today to do homework packs.  Homework will go home on Tuesday when I return, but it will be a lesser amount than normal.

*February 8th is our Open House event.  Information went home about this last week (orange flyer).  There are lots of fun things going on for this event, and some perks too!  There is also more information on this in our school newsletter (here on our website as well).

*The Daddy/Daughter is February 16th.  Information about this event also went home and is on our newsletter.

*Show and tell this week will be something that begins with the letter "L".

*I will be sending home a class list this week for your child to have for Valentine's cards.  We will have a little party (Valentine's exchange and a treat) on Valentine's Day.  We will make bags for our Valentine's in class.  :)

Here are this week's academics:

In reading, we will learn about cause and effect relationships in stories as we read an alternate version of The Three Little Pigs.  We will also read the traditional version and do a Venn Diagram compare and contrast.  In phonics, we will learn the -ed and -ing suffixes and continue to use the blends and digraphs we have learned to read new words.  The children are coming along so well on their reading skills.  Thank you for all you do at home to help them achieve reading success!  Math will focus on adding number in vertical form and learning tens and ones (place value).  We will learn about American symbols in socials studies.  In Bible, we will continue to study the life of Jesus and the miracles He performed.  We will read the story of Jesus Changes Water Into Wine.  Our memory verse for the week is:

Psalm 50:15

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you.

Have a blessed week everyone!
