Dear Kindergarten Families,

Here are this week's updates and highlights:

*There is NO school on Monday, October 16th.  This is a teacher planning/conference day.  If you have scheduled a conference with me on this day, I will see you at your scheduled time slot.  You will also receive your child's report card at conference.  If you are unable to meet with me for a conference this week, please let me know.

*I have received almost all permission slips for next Friday's field trip, but I still have a few out.  Please get those to us as soon as possible.  We have determine how many parents we have driving and how many seats they have to transport children.  Please make sure that I have all forms filled out (volunteer forms for new volunteers and driver's license and insurance information).  No parent will be allowed to transport a child or chaperone without this information.

*Our Pumpkin Party will be on October 30th.  More info will go home on that this week.

*Show-n-Tell this week is something with a middle sound of short vowel letter /a/.  For example, a stuffed animal cat to represent the word c-a-t.

Academics:

This week we will begin learning to put words together using middle short vowel sounds.  We will also learn how to make a plural noun using final /s/.  We will learn about owls this week in science and fire safety in social studies.  We will learn about 3-D shapes in math and work on beginning addition skills adding a number plus one.  In Bible, we will learn about the life of Moses.  Our blend ladder for the week will be letter /s/.  Our sight words are:  blue, brown, and but.  Next week there will be two blend ladders as children begin to more easily understand combining consonants and vowels. Our blend ladder for letter /l/ assessment will be on Tuesday.  Our number of the week is 7.

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Tracy :)
