I began teaching in 1996 and started teaching 2nd grade at Grace in 2007. I encourage my students to reach new levels of independence and responsibility. 2nd grade is an exciting time of growth and discovery as the children learn new skills, make new friends, and become confident readers. I lead the class in God’s word to enable my students to grow in faith and love. I believe in a classroom that has a warm and loving environment. It is learner-centered in which the students feel valuable and capable. Students are cared for and nurtured, and encouraged to do their very best. Instruction is varied with creative, hands-on and engaging activities. Learning is a social activity with students working cooperatively in groups learning from each other. Students learn to think critically, and problem solve.
I graduated from Concordia in Seward, Nebraska, with a degree in Elementary Education majoring in Early Childhood Education and a minor in music. I am currently working towards my M.Ed. Literacy with Reading Specialist emphasis. I enjoy reading, going to the beach, and spending time with my family. I have two sons, Caleb a 2016 Grace Lutheran alumnus now attending Stanton College Prep and Benjamin who is currently a 7th-grade student at Grace. My husband is Mr. Leimer, the 6th-grade homeroom, and middle school science and art teacher.
